You can help.
The Mississippi Burn Foundation funding is raised strictly by donations and fundraising events. Without the help and support of the communities in the State of Mississippi, MBF could not exist. In addition to the recovery support and assistance we offer burn victims and their families, your financial support also enables MBF to provide the following programs for our pediatric burn patients:
Camp Funshine. Camp Funshine is an annual retreat for children who have suffered from a severe burn. These children attend free of charge and can enjoy all the activities of a traditional camp. Campers enjoy a variety of activities, including arts and crafts, boating, music, nature, hiking, swimming, a rope course, and many more activities designed to stimulate campers’ minds. By being with other children at Camp Funshine who have similar scars and who have suffered the pain which they have endured, often makes these children less embarrassed by being in public and also, gives them more confidence and self-esteem. Parents/guardians also attend Camp Funshine, and counselors are on hand to provide support to all participants.
Shop With The Doc. Because of the economic strain a burn can cause, some families are financially strapped for the holidays. MBF feels that every child who has suffered from a severe burn deserves a Christmas to remember. That is why every child who has been a patient at the Joseph M. Still Burn Center is given a $150.00 Walmart Gift Card to spend during a special evening with the medical staff that cared for them in their time of need.
OUR CURRENT GOAL
On June 22, 2011, the Joseph M. Still Burn and Reconstructive Centers, Inc. opened the only inpatient burn center intensive care unit in the State of Mississippi. The center is located at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson Mississippi. MBF is currently in the midst of a capital campaign to build the Lodge, a “home away from home,” where the family members of burn patients will be able to stay while their loved ones are being treated at the Burn Center in Brandon which will result in no cost to them.
From offering unwavering support every day – all year long – to holding events for our pediatric burn patients – the Mississippi Burn Foundation exists to serve Mississippi families in their time of need.
