Every child deserves a Christmas gift. But for many pediatric burn patients whose families are struggling to make ends meet, gifts are a luxury that would be out of reach without the help of the Mississippi Burn Foundation’s “Shop with a Doc” program. Many of these families have very limited incomes, often with little to no insurance, and were barely keeping food on the table before their child suffered a traumatic burn injury. Many moms and dads have had to sacrifice their jobs to be by their child’s side as they are treated at the Burn Center, causing an even greater financial burden. “Shop with a Doc” gives children who have suffered excruciating pain and have been confined to the hospital for months at a time the chance to experience the thrill and excitement of going to a store to pick out gifts with doctors, firefighters and volunteers. Wide eyes, big smiles and squeals of joy are always the theme for this special Mississippi Burn Foundation event. “Shop with a Doc” takes place each year on the second Thursday in December.
We hope you’ll help us make this Christmas magical for pediatric burn patients with a gift to the Mississippi Burn Foundation. For more information, call Amanda Fontaine at 601-540-2995 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
